MARCUS DALY III, 50, FINANCIER, IS DEAD

LAS VEGAS, Nev., Nov. 7 (AP)-- Marcus Daly III, the millionaire financier and the grandson of the founder of the Anaconda Corporation, died here today. He was 50 years old.

Born in New York, Mr. Daly moved to Las Vegas in 1945 where he had lived since, dabbling in many diversified businesses, a friend said.

Mr. Daly underwent an operation on his hip Thursday and had remained in serious condition. His grandfather, Marcus Daly struck it rich when he found a huge copper lode in Butte, Mont., in the late 1800s. The fortune was passed down through the family.

He is survived by his widow, Juanita, and a daughter in California.

NOTE: At this writing, there are no primary sources located that state Marcus Daly had a middle name, or his namesakes—his son and grandson. There is no documentation that Haggin was a middle name for any of them to this day. Marcus Daly's naturalization card from 1874, passport applications for all three of them, and all other primary sources show no middle name.
