Rev. Dwight F. Mowery officiated at the private funeral service for John V. Stewart, at his home on Pelham street Thursday afternoon. Rev. William Safford Jones, former pastor of the Channing Memorial Church, assisted.
Besides the family, a delegation from Newport Lodge of Elks attended, and recited their ritual at the home.
The interment was in the family lot in the Island cemetery.
