Michael D. Herbert, 49, of McHenry, formerly of Lindenhurst, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Wauwatosa, Wis.

He was born July 30, 1960, in Libertyville, to Lawrence and Barbara (Lally) Herbert. He grew up in Lindenhurst, moving to McHenry 20 years ago. On Aug. 9, 1997, he married Diane Karczewski in Lindenhurst.

He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and very active with the Woodstock H.O.G. Chapter, enjoyed gardening, and had a love for music. He worked for 25 years as a technologist in the waste-water labs at Baxter Laboratories, Round Lake.

Survivors include his wife, Diane; his foster children, Cody and Zachary Kupsik; his parents, Larry and Barbara of Lindenhurst; his brother, Scott (Kris) Herbert of Lake Villa; his father-in-law, Art (the late Dorothy) Karczewski of Antioch; and many other relatives and friends.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 5, at Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St., (Route 83), Antioch. The service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, at St. Peter Church, 557 Lake St., Antioch, with interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery, Antioch.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Little Angels, 1435 Summit, Elgin, IL 60120.
