John married Effie Verble in Union, Union Co, IL on August 17, 1893.
On June 5, 1900,
John & Effa Washer, ages 30 & 22, were renting a home in Cache, Johnson Co, IL where John supported the family by farming. They had been married 8 years. Their children were shown as Carra, age 6; Melvin, 4; May, 2; & Maud, 1.
On April 20, 1910,
John & Effie, ages 40 & 33, were still living in Cache, IL, and by this time owned a farm. they had been married 17 years; Effie had given birth to 10 children, but only 6 were living. Their children were Melvin, age 14; Ruby, 9; Olin (son), 8; Grace, 6; Joseph A. 4; Mary, 2; & Pearl, 3 months.
On Jan. 27/28, 1920,
John & Effie, ages 50 & 43, owned a farm in Kemp, Bryan Co, OK, where John did general farm work. Their children were Olin, age 17; Gracie, 15; Arley, 13; Mary, 11; Pearl, 9; Willie, 8; Fred, 5; Ralph, 2 years & 9 months, & Pauline, 7 months. A boarder, John Nicholdson, age 65, lived with them & helped John with the farm work.
John was 90 years old when he died at Manor Rest Home in Denison, Grayson Co, TX at 8:15 p.m. on Nov. 6, 1960, from a Cerebral Vascular Hemorrhage. His wife, Effie of Achille, OK, was the informant on his death certificate. He was buried on Nov. 8.
