Son of Levi Right and Sarah Jane Rawls Godbold. Horace married (1) Eveline Virginia Lee on October 30, 1873, and (2) Mattie Fredonia Herring on November 23, 1906.

The death of Horace Godbold, well known and beloved citizen of the Wright's Church neighborhood in Franklin County, has brought sorrow to innumerable friends throughout this section of the country.

In the hearts of the devoted wife and children remains the unperishable memory of a great love and to his fellow citizens remains the memory of an upright, godly man whose influence was a great blessing.

A great throng from far and wide gathered for the funeral Sunday afternoon, more than a score from this city being present. Officiating at the last rites were Dr. B. F. Jones and Dr. Loyd Decell of Brookhaven, together with Mr. Godbold's pastor, Rev. Mr. Ezell.

Among those from Brookhaven who attended were: J. F. Ervin, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cupit, O. D. Sullivan and family, Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Cameron, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Vaughan, Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Harrison, Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Massengill, Bert Cassedy, Mrs. J. W. Cassedy, Judge W. P. Cassedy, Mr. and Mrs. Ike Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Wentworth, Sam Newman, Robert Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Denman Myers, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Furlow and V. D. Youngblood.
