Italian painter "The different man", deemed mad, but with great artistic genius - His works have never been shown in the U.S. Born in San Gatlo, Switzerland to Italian immigrant farmers, his childhood was one of misery and poor health which left him with many psychiatric problems. At the age of twenty, he returned to his father's birthplace of Gualtieri, Italy. Here he lived his life as a vagabond painting from his memories as a child reflecting the farm world from where he came. He was constantly in and out of psychiatric hospitals. From his tormented mind came an endless creation of paintings populated by wild beasts, snakes, wild and domestic animals in the countryside or exotic forests. Suffering from an assortment of ailments including alcoholism, always in poor health, at the age of 66, he died in Gualtieri, Sicily, an area he never ventured far from during his entire adult life.
