Age 45
Son of John Harris McCrea, and Jeanette McCrea, of Stillorgan, County Dublin, Irish Republic; husband of Edith Florence Willock McCrea.
Killed at home by enemy action. The McCreas were both doctors and previously lived in John Street, Manchester, their practice being in the same building. When the Manchester/Salford blitz began they moved to Worsley where they thought they would be safer, renting a house known as 'The Cottage' on Barton Road (Elmwood Retirement home now occupies the site). The house received a direct hit from a parachute mine and was totally destroyed, killing the family and their maid.
