Mrs. Margaretta Elizabeth DuPont, widow of Alfred Victor DuPont, died at her home, near Wilmington last night. She was a Motte and her husband was a son of Eleuthere Irenee DuPont, founder of the great powder making company, he succeeded his father at the head of the concern, holding that position until 1850, when his brother, General Henry DuPont, became its head. Alfred Victor died in 1856 at Nemours on the Brandywine, leaving a wife and two sons, LaMotte and Irenee DuPont, both now dead, the former having been killed in 1884, at an explosion at the works in New Jersey.

Mrs. Margaretta Elizabeth Dupont, aged ninety-one years and widow of Alfred Victor DuPont, who was a son of Eleuthere I. Dupont, founder of the powder making works, died at her home, near this city last evening of general debility. Her maiden name was Lammott. At the death of Eleuthere Dupont, Mrs. Dupont’s husband in 1834 succeeded him as the head of the powder company, which position he held until 1850, when General Henry Dupont became the head of the firm. Mrs. Dupont had two sons, Lammott and Irenee. The former was killed instantly in an explosion at the Repauno Chemical Works, in 1884. Her husband died in 1854.
