John Newton McDaniel was the son of Alfred and Sarah (Hayes) McDaniel. (Please note that John's father's first name on Find A Grave is mistakenly given as "Alford" due to an error on Alfred McDaniel's marker.) In 1906 he married Gracie Hoskins by whom he had two sons, Homer L. and Ross. On 30 August of 1915 he married Laura Starr by whom he had seven children, all of whom are now deceased: Jack, Earl "Dan", Lucille Hazel Walker, Dollie Desoto Howard, Eugene Francis, and Albert Thomas. His last daughter by Laura, Imogene "Jean" McDaniel Kay Glasgow, died on 9 June of 2016, in Edmond OK. The family do not know if John remarried after separating from Laura. Any information regarding subsequent marriages or additional children would be appreciated, as would any information pertaining to his first wife, Laura Starr. Researchers are especially eager to locate pictures of John and Laura in their youth. On official records John gives his occupation as farmer and indicates that he owned land in the vicinity of Claremore, OK. As a note of interest, John's brother, Benjamin Fletcher McDaniel, was father to the celebrated "Okie" poet, Wilma McDaniel.
