Edward served as a Technical Sergeant & Engineer ~ Top Turret Gunner on B-24H #41-28605, 718th Bomber Squadron, 449th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Fairfield County, Connecticut prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on April 7, 1942 in Hartford, Connecticut. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in a machine shop and also as Single, without dependents.

B-24H #41-28605 took off, with a crew of 11, from Grottaglie, Italy on a bombing mission over Udine, Italy. They were attacked by enemy aircraft, shot down, and crashed near Udine, Italy during the war. Six of the crew perished and five survived the crash.

Edward was "Killed In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
