Age 94, a son of the late William and Margaret Gordon Church, and had lived in Erie since 1924. Mr. Church worked for General Electric for 32 years, retiring in 1965. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club and the GE Retired Employees Association, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served as a Sunday school superintendent for 27 years and a Republican committeeman for more than 20 years. He also was first counselor in the branch presidency. Before moving to the United States in 1922, he served as a Sunday school superintendent in Ireland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Glauser Church; two sisters, Sarah Church and Margaret Hinkson; and two brothers, William and James Gordon Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mayo (Elsie) Call of Afton, Wyo.; two sons, George D. Church of Redmond, WA; and David L. Church of Panama; a sister, Mary Hebner of Sun City, CA; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
