DEATH OF JOHN T. BOWEN
John T. Bowen passed away Sunday morning following a heart attack. Mr. Bowen had been in poor health during the past few months; but his sudden death came as a great shock to his family and friends. He was born in Warren County, Mo.. March 20th, 1866. Here he spent his boyhood days, and received his education. When nineteen years of age he came to Colorado, and located at Nevadaville. He lived in this section for some time, and on a business trip to Minnesota, met and married Emily E. Holden; the date of the marriage being October 29th, 1906. Mr. and Mrs. Bowen established their first home at Rhyolite, Nev.; coming to Colorado in 1912. They later moved to Denver, and then to Aurora, where they purchased residence property, and have made their home during the past twenty-six years. Mr. Bowen was employed as a stationery mining engineer, and later engaged in farming, and various other activities. One daughter. Ruth, (Mrs. Vernon Spencer) and a son, Jack, came to bless their home. Both Ruth and Jack entered Aurora grade school in the first grade and graduated from Aurora High School. Jack, who enlisted in the navy about three months ago, was recently called to Pearl Harbor, and has not yet been reached with the radiogram of the sad news of his father's death. Mr. Bowen was a man of sterling character; true and loyal to his country and to his friends: and devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Emily E. Bowen, a daughter, Mrs. Vernon Spencer; a son, Jack Bowen: a son-in-law, Vernon Spencer, and one little grandson John Vernon; also by numerous other relatives. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of the entire community in Aurora, where they have made their home and [illegible] an active part in civic and social life for so many years. Mrs. Bowen's sister, Mrs. E. C. Tracy, arrived from St. Paul. Minn., Tuesday, and will remain for a short time. Funeral services will be held at Olinger's Mortuary, at Speer Boulevard, Wednesday afternoon, at 2 o'clock.
