Born in Bialystok-then part of Russian Empire. Better known under his alias of Seelig Silverstein {Silverstein was his mother's surname}. Anarchist who tried to throw a bomb in Union Square New York City but who accidentally ignited it prematurely causing his own eventual death from infection and that of another man {Ignatz Hildebrand of Orange New Jersey} March 28, 1908 . Several contemporary pictures taken after the explosion shown the mortally wounded Silverstein with his victim next to him.
