There has been much speculation over whether he was Marylin Monroe's father. That question was actually solved soon after he died. Amongst his papers were found copies of Norma Jean Baker's birth certificate listing him as the father and copies of his marriage and divorce papers to Gladys Pearl Baker. They were married in 1924 and divorced in 1927 with it becoming final in 1928. Some sources give his last name as "Mortenson".

Gravesite Details

Edward Mortenson was listed as her father on Norma Jeane's birth certificate but Charles Stanley Gifford, a co-worker of Gladys' with whom she had an affair around the time of Norma Jeane's conception, was determined to be her biological father.
