OBITUARY:

ST. CLAIR, EARL N.
Age 55, of Box 144, Wheeler, Ind., passed away Monday evening, March 20, after suffering a heart seizure. He was a prominent Center Township farmer. He was a lifelong resident of Porter County, and a member of the Porter County Farm Bureau Co-Op, active in 4-H work, and a former member of the Porter County Fair Board. At the time of his death, he was president of the board of directors of the Wheeler Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors: wife, Evelyn (Gant); three sons, William L. of Valparaiso, Earl N. and Paul D., at home; three step-sons, John D. Gant with the U. S. Air Force, Joseph S. Gant, with the U. S. Navy, James W. Gant at home; father, two grandchildren; one brother, Myron St. Clair of Valparaiso; two sisters, Mrs. Dewey Babcock of Valparaiso and Mrs. Bennett Bauer of Hobart; preceded in death by mother and two sons, Robert and Eugene. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 1961, at the Bartholomew Funeral Home, Valparaiso, Rev. William Hughes of the First Methodist Church officiating. Burial in Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Earl N. St. Clair, age 55, Box 144, Wheeler, a prominent Center township farmer, died Monday evening after suffering a heart seizure. Born Dec. 31, 1905, in Center township, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. N. St. Clair. On March 14, 1930, he married Garnet Lidke, who preceded him in death in 1955. On Aug. 17, 1957, he married Mrs. Evelyn Gant, who survives. St. Clair was a life-long resident of Porter county. He was a member of the Porter County Farm Bureau co-op, active in 4-H work and a former member of the Porter County Fair board. At the time of his death, he was president of the board of directors of the Wheeler Volunteer Fire department. Surviving besides the widow are three sons, William L., Valparaiso, Earl N. Jr., and Paul D., at home; three step-sons, John D. Gant, with the U.S. Air Force; Joseph S. Gant, with the U.S. Navy, and James W. Gant, at home. He is also survived by his father, two grandchildren, one brother, Myron St. Clair, Valparaiso, and two sisters, Mrs. Dewey Babcock, Valparaiso, and Mrs. Bennett Bauer, Hobart. St. Clair was preceded in death by his mother and two sons, Robert and Eugene. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Bartholomew Funeral home with the Rev. Warren L.
