He spent his childhood in Pueblo, CO where he graduated from Pueblo High School. He served his country as a Corpsman in the US Navy, attached to the United States Marine Corps division during World War II where he sustained an injury that resulted in him living the rest of his life with shrapnel embedded in the right side of his body. Throughout his life, Byron enjoyed tinkering.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wynona Winton Stanley; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Kellye Bross; and his parents.
Survivors include his son, Kerry B. Stanley and his wife Jenette of Grand Junction, CO; his daughter, Wynona Lynne Stanley of Denver, CO; his former daughter-in-law, Kellye Bross; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Per Byron's wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest next to his wife in the River View Cemetery in Minturn, CO. Military honors will be rendered at the cemetery.
