James Nixson Harvey was born the April-May-June Quarter of 1872 in Droitwich, Worcestershire. He was baptised on 18 Aug 1872 at St. George, Claines, Worcestershire.
In 1881 he was 9 years old and a pupil at School, St James Square, Stoneycroft, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. He was there with his 13 year old brother John Watts Harvey.
In 1891 James was employed as a Lithographer's Assistant in Cheltenham.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership heretofore subsisting between us the undersigned James Nickson Harvey and Henry Cowley Harvey, carrying on business as Printers, Lithographers, Book-binders and Stationers at Manchester-street Cheltenham, in the county of Gloucester, under the style or firm of Harvey Brothers has been dissolved by mutual consent, as and from the 20th day of December 1895. All debts due to and owing by the late firm will be received and paid by the said James Nickson Harvey who will in future carry on the said business alone. Dated the 20th

In 1901 he was employed as a Stationary Shop Keeper in Cheltenham.
James married Fanny Elizabeth Amelia Voce on 03 Aug 1904 at Parish Church of Old Swinford, Worcestershire. They had two sons, James Frederick Voce Harvey and Thomas David Harvey.
In 1911 he was employed as a Master Stationer, Printer, Account Book Maker And Bookbinder. He lived with his wife and two sons at Melrose, Prestbury, Charlton Kings, Cheltenham.
He died on 1 June 1924 at the Royal Nursing Home, Cheltenham. His home address was Melrose, Prestbury Road, Cheltenham.
