James Howard "Jim" or "Jimmy" Burke of Welcome, MD died on Saturday, March 18, 2023. Jim was born on January 29, 1940.

He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Bea Burke, and his brother Tom.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Loretta; sons Mike (Denise) and Chris (Tammy); granddaughters Shana, Shannon, and Nicole; grandsons CJ, Chase and Tim; great grandchildren Sophia, Elliot, Ally, and Kate.

Jim retired from NAVSEA in Crystal City in the 1990's, and decided to start a firewood business. Burke's Firewood and chainsaw carving as a hobby evolved into the Chainsaw Wiz Tree Service. He enjoyed the fast pace of giving estimates, running crews, and working with his customers. In his limited free time, Jimmy took any opportunity to pursue his passion for the outdoors and hunting with his sons and grandchildren. He had a passion for boating and travel. He frequently visited local crab houses, and loved to eat steamed crabs. Jim was always charitable, and sought out opportunities to help younger and less fortunate people, donating his time and business resources. He provided firewood to folks who could not afford to heat their homes.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, March 24, from 11:00 AM until time of memorial service at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at the Nanjemoy Baptist Church cemetery in Nanjemoy, MD.
