Mrs. Marietta E. (nee Maggio) Schoenherr, 97, died peacefully on May 8, 2020 at her home in Caldwell, NJ.
Private Services were held. A Memorial Mass celebrating her life will be announced at a later date.
Marietta was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY where she graduated high school and went on to business school. Marietta met her beloved husband, Olaf Schoenherr and married in 1954. They raised their three children Lisa, Eleana and Erich in Lynbrook, NY. They eventually settled in Caldwell, NJ, where Marietta and Olaf spent many years joyfully involved in the lives of their grandchildren, family and friends.
Marietta worked in Manhattan, in accounting for many years before launching into her true passion of art and quilting. For the past 27 years Marietta designed, crafted and exhibited her beautiful art-quilts and was known for her creativity and workmanship. Her love of quilting gave much joy to family and friends who were the recipients of her artistic handiwork.
She was a member of the Nubian Heritage Quilters Guild in Montclair, NJ, where she made many friends who shared in her love of quilting.
Mrs. Schoenherr was predeceased by her husband Olaf Schoenherr of 53 years, her parents, Giuseppe and Helen (nee Scalzo) Maggio and son-in-law, Sean Hanselman.
She is survived by her loving children Lisa Schoenherr-Lantero, Eleana Hanselman and Erich Schoenherr (wife, April); cherished grandchildren, Kyle Hanselman (wife, Jessica), Christopher Lantero (wife, Christine), Erik Hanselman, Ryan Schoenherr, Erin Schoenherr, Lily Schoenherr, and; and great-grandchildren, Sean and Celso Hanselman. She is also survived by her sister, Rose Smith and brother, Anthony Maggio.
