Julia Stang of Dawson Creek, B.C passed away on July 12, 2009 at the age of 72.

She was born at home on a homestead in East Coleman Creek, Alberta on November 14, 1936. Parents Annie and Andrew Rudy welcomed her as the youngest sibling of 5 children.

Julia was hard working, caring, loving, kind, compassionate, very giving, and a perfectionist. She loved to laugh and dance, and was a master at baking, cooking, and gardening. She was gracious, carried herself with dignity and pride and usually told you how it was, off the cuff so to speak. She had a terrific memory.

Julia left home to seek work at the age of 16. Her first place of employment was a Chinese Restaurant. Soon she met and married Lucas Stang on November 18, 1954.

A daughter, Gloria followed and then a son, Terry. Once the children were old enough, she decided to work at Safeway, then on to IGA, and most recent the Dawson Co-op. Julia worked so very, very hard all her life and never did retire. She was up so early every morning, she perfected and mastered her art of Cake decorating, fruit flans and on and on. Many have received one of her work of art in the form of wedding cake fit for Royalty.

Julia's favourite sport was bowling where she won first in her league. Listening to Old Country music was a favourite pass time. She insisted that her grandchildren learn about her Ukrainian traditions especially at Christmas and Easter. Gloria remembers that her mother would give the shirt off her back if someone was in need. Julia was always concerned that no one should ever go hungry and made sure everyone was fed. She worried about others before herself. She was very meticulous and nothing could be out of place.

Julia was predeceased by her parents Anne and Andrew Rudy, sister's Sofie and Jenny, brother Leonard, husband Luke and granddaughter Julianne.

She is survived by her daughter Gloria (husband Don,) her son Terry (wife Sue,) her grandchildren Shaun and Blaine, and Aaron and Sierra, her sister Olga and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 2:00 pm from Reynars Funeral Chapel. Fr. Michael Anyasoro officiated, interment followed in the Brookside Cemetery.

For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Julia to the Canadian Cancer Society. Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium, Dawson Creek, B.C.
