Mary Alice's obituary read: "Mrs. Mary Alice Watts, 84, of 1514 Thirteen Street, Lawrenceville, died at 3 P.M. Friday at the Knight Nursing Home after an illness of several years. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Sunday at the Nicholas Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, and burial will be made at the Oblong Cemetery. She was born in Crawford County June 7, 1880, the daughter of J. F. and Laura Bell Martin Spencer. Her husband Fred Watts, died May 15, 1941. She was a member of the Christian Church in Robinson, and was a former resident of Bridgeport, coming to Lawrenceville about two years ago.

Surviving are two sons, Byrl of Decatur, Illinois and Wilbert King of Mattoon, Illinois; four sisters, Mrs. Savillia Hantz, Oblong, Mrs. Bessie Hubbell, Walkman, Iowa, Mrs. Ola Bell Kerner of Canada, and Mrs. Clarence Wright of Lawrenceville; two brothers, Jason O. Spencer of Oblong and George Spencer of Mattoon, Illinois; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Nicholas Funeral Home at any time."
