Reverend Alexander Charles Louis Piochard D'Arblay. Son of Alexander Gabriel Pienchard D'Arblay and Frances D'Arblay. Baptised on 11 Apr 1795 at Great Bookham, Surrey. Educated at school in Greenwich/France and at Caius and Christ's College Cambridge. BA 1818. MA 1821. Fellow of Christ's College 1818. 10th wrangler in the Mathematics Tripos at Cambridge in 1818. Ordained Deacon (Chester) Sep 1818; Priest in Apr 1819. Founding clergyman of All Saints Church, Camden Town, London 1824-37. Minister of Ely Chapel, n High Holborn, London 1836. A poet and chess-player. He was bilingual, and wrote equally easily in English and French, and translated poetry and literary works. He died unmarried of tuberculosis aged 41 years. Buried on 28 Jan 1837. There is also a memorial plaque to him in the church.
