She came to the UK from Russia in 1932 as the wife of William Charles Rust, editor of the Daily Worker, the communist daily newspaper and was a life-long supporter of the British Communist Party, and related organisations, in which she held official positions for many years. After his death she became the last wife of Philipps, Wogan, second Baron Milford (1902–1993), political activist and artist.
