Following graduation from Boyden High School in Salisbury, she entered and graduated from Mission School of Nursing in Asheville in 1933.
After her marriage, she left her nursing career to live and work on the family farm in Candler. She resided all of her adult life at 169 Dogwood Road in Candler where she was a stay at home mother and worked on the Kiser Farm.
She was an active member in the community, Buncombe County Extension Club and church where she served as Sunday school teacher for many years and was very active in the missions organizations and church training. Her life was dedicated to her husband, children, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
