An election-induced holiday ended fatally for Earl Robert Weikert, 12-year-old son of
Mr. And Mrs. Clarence M Weikert, Gettysburg R2, Tuesday afternoon when he was shot by his own rifle as he hunted on his father's Highland township farm.
Earl was a pupil at Church school in Highland township.
…Earl is survived by his parents, Clarence M and Maude Spangler Weikert; two brothers and two sisters, J Wilbur, Gettysburg R3; Donald S, Gettysburg R2; Mrs. William S Neely, Fairfield, and
Miss Anna G Weikert, York. The maternal grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Spangler, Fairfield, and the paternal grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. Mahlon Weiket, Fairfield also survive.
The youth was a member of the Sunday school of Zion Lutheran church at Fairfield.
Funeral services Friday afternoon at 2:00 at the Allison funeral home in Fairfield with the
Rev. John C McCune, 2nd pastor of the Fairfield Lutheran church, officiating, assisted by the
Rev. Emmert G Colestok Enola, former pastor. Interment in Union cemetery at Fairfield.
