Religious Figure. Born Henri Antoine Grouès, he was a French Catholic priest, member of the Resistance during the World War II, and deputy of the Popular Republican Movement (MRP). He founded in 1949 the Emmaus movement, which has the goal of helping poor and homeless people and refugees. Abbe Pierre appeared in the 2012 French Commemorative 2 Euro coin.
