Martha Mae Morgan Smith, died peacefully at her home in Borger, Texas surrounded by her family. She was 93. Born in Winthrop, Arkansas, June 22, 1911, Mrs. Smith was a resident of Borger since 1939.

Well remembered for her warmth and charm, she was a successful retail businesswoman in Borger until her retirement in 1992 at the age of 80. Throughout her career, she managed several stores to include Ollie Hare's Men's and Ladies' Store, Alex Levine's Ladies' Store, Cartwright's Fabric Shop and Cartwright's Specialty Store.

Ms. Smith was active in civic work serving the Girl Scouts, the Lioness Club of Borger and the Borger Jayceettes. She was also president of the La Ventana Book Club and was a long-time member of the Borger Country Club.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Olive Hamblin and Arthur Morgan, Jr.; one sister, Lunda Morgan; and four brothers, Rual, Dana, Arthur and James Morgan.

Mrs. Smith was the loving mother of Charlotte Shultz of San Francisco and Charles Sam Smith, III, of North Carolina. She was the beloved mother-in-law of George P. Shultz and Victoria Smith. She was the adored grandmother of Kelly (husband Frank) Ditta of Sydney, Australia; Kevin (wife Vicky) Smith of Phoenix, Arizona and Kyle (wife Cara) Smith of Dallas, Texas and cherished great-grandmother of Payton, Dixon, Sydney Jo, Shay and Sadie.

Survivors also include two sisters, Ruby Walker of Mt. Vernon, Texas and Emily Johnson of Maud, Texas; and two brothers, Clarence Morgan of Odessa, Texas and Leota Morgan of Hutto, Texas.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral services at the First Presbyterian Church of Borger, on Tuesday, February 1st, at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Roger Harwerth officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors. Interment will be at the Camp Ground Cemetery in Winthrop, Arkansas where Mrs. Smith's parents are buried.
