Samuel Glenn Conley, 85, of Sierra Vista, Arizona, entered into rest.

A praying of the rosary will be Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at 11:30 A.M. at St Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, with a funeral Mass of Christian Burial to follow at noon.

A committal ceremony with full military honors will take place at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery following Mass.

Samuel G. Conley, Jr., went to be with the Lord on 29 June 2016. He had been a resident of Sierra Vista for the past 33 years.

Sam was born at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, DC, to Sam and Ellen Conley.

He graduated from the Augusta Military Academy at Fort Defiance, Virginia, in 1947, then attended William and Mary College, the United States Military Academy at West Point, and the University of Kansas.

Sam was a soldier from a long line of soldiers, and he entered the US Army in 1955 as a second lieutenant of infantry. After more than thirty years service, he retired from the Army in 1985.

Sam's awards include 3 Legions of Merit, 3 Bronze Stars, 10 Air Medals, and the Master Army Aviator Badge.

Sam is survived by his loving wife, Theresa of Sierra Vista; daughters, Bambi and Rebecca; sons, Sam Conley III, William, and Clifford; sisters, Joan Conover and Jacque Watts; brother, James; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Ellen Elizabeth (Lanham) Conley; his father, Brigadier General Samuel G. Conley, Sr.; his sister, Alice Conley Merrill; and his uncle, Major General Charles Lanham.

A praying of the rosary will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at 11:30 A.M. at St Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, with a funeral Mass of Christian Burial at noon, followed by a committal ceremony with full military honors and a reception.

Final burial will be with his father, mother, and uncle Charles Lanham in the Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, DC. [sic].
