Military Figure. He was atThree-star General of the Italian Army. Considered a national hero, he is known for his commitment to the fight against the Brigate Rosse and the Mafia. He graduated in Law and Political Science at the Military Academy of Modena. In 1949, he was dispatched to investigate banditry in Sicily. From 1966 to 1981 he held several prestigious roles such as superior officer and commander of the Military Region of North-West of the Carabinieri, as well as head of the Special Unit Antiterrorism. In 1982, Dalla Chiesa was appointed Prefect of Palermo. On 3 September of the same year, he was murdered. He was awarded the Silver Medal for Military Valour (1949), the Bronze Medal for Civil Valour (1968), and the Gold Medal.
