Mrs. William L. Stowell

BRONXVILLE - Mrs. Louis Espenscheid Stowell, widow of Dr. William L. Stowell, specialist in children's diseases, died Saturday at her home, 4 Alden Place. She was eighty-six years old.

Born at Brooklyn Heights, she attended Packer Institute and the Sunday school conducted by Henry Ward Beecher in that borough. Later she attended the Friends School in Moorestown, Pa. She was married to Dr. Stowell, former child specialist and chairman of the board of positions at Randall's Island, who died in 1931.

Formerly active in the Broadway Tabernacle, a Congregational church, she joined the Reformed Church on coming to Bronxville.

Surviving are three sons, Leland E., William C., and Kenneth K. Stowell; a brother, Nicholas Espenscheid, and a sister, Mrs. Frederick F. Espenscheid; and two grandsons serving in the nation's armed forces.
