Germaine Ida Tate, 92, of Greeley, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy illness.

Germaine was born on October 30, 1922 in Sterling, Colorado to John and Bertha (Unrein) Sewald.

Germaine was raised and educated in the Sterling and Crook areas. She graduated from Crook High School. When in high school she was active in the pep club, baton twirling and cheerleading.

After high school, she married Mahlon Meyerholz. After their marriage, they lived in Sterling. They later divorced. She married Charles B. Tate on August 11, 1984 and moved to Greeley. He died on May 16, 1995.

Germaine attended St. Anthony's Catholic Church and St. Anthony's school. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Church. She enjoyed family time, especially with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, traveling and reading. Holidays were very special to her and her family.

Germaine is survived by daughter, Myra Rieke (Shawn) of Johnstown; son, Virie "Vi" Meyerholz (Debbie) of Panama City, Florida; brother, Frank P. Sewald of Mead; grandchildren, Jason Meyerholz (Natalie) of Denver, Shannon Rieke (fiancé, Luke Plumb) and Justin Rieke and two great-granddaughters, Ginna and Jolene. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law, Genevieve and Marion Kidwell and sister-in-law, Jean Sewald.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greeley. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
