MANZ, Esther Dorothea Jurgeleit 84, passed away July 5, 2006 at Dayspring Healthcare Center & Rehabilitation in Enon, OH. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on February 16, 1922 to the late Michael and Anna Schimkus Jurgeleit. Preceded in death by sisters, Helene Jurgeleit, Martha Jurgeleit Nowotny and Ida Jurgeleit Weiland, brother Walter Jurgeleit, and niece Judy Weiland Cameron. Survived by her daughter Diane Manz Oakley of Spring, TX and son Peter S. Manz, Jr. (Cynthia) of Beavercreek, OH; grandchildren: Brian Oakley (Donna), Christopher Oakley, Laura Manz Middleton (Glen), and Jason Manz (Elizabeth); great grandchildren: Jordan Elizabeth Oakley; Emma and Grant Middleton; and Emily, Abigail and Cameron Manz; nieces: Sandra Weiland Hughes, Cheryl Weiland, Pegge Weiland Kirkpatrick, and Patricia Nowotny Saunders; nephews: Dennis Weiland and Donald Nowotny; cousins: Richard Schimkus of Alexandria, VA and Elizabeth Schimkus Silber of Poway, CA; and ex-husband Peter S. Manz, Sr. (San Jose, CA). She attended Allen School and Kiser High School and was a lifelong member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Old North Dayton. She retired in 1982 from DP&L after 22 years. Services will be held Monday, July 10 at 2:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Road in Beavercreek with Pastor Bryan Kittner officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton Ohio.
