Robert married Mahala C. Howard in 1870. She was the daughter of Jacob Howard and Mahala Brock. They had at least 7 children from this union.

On Robert's Death Cert, it listed he died from Pellagra, which is a vitamin deficiency disease most frequently caused by a chronic lack of Niacin (vitamin B3).

NOTE: According to contributor Michelle Centers, this Robert was not the son of "Blue Hole" Sizemore. "The son of Henry Blue Hole Sizemore named Robert died at the age of 18 in the Civil War at the Siege of Vicksburg in 1863. He was never married."
