Mr. Watson was born Feb. 28, 1934, in Denver to John C. and Ruth Elizabeth (Drew) Watson.
Mr. Watson had lived in Colorado Springs since 1970. He also had lived in Pagosa Springs, Denver and California.
Mr. Watson was a teacher at Cheyenne Mountain Junior High School from 1970 to 1992. He taught at Pagosa Springs High School from 1968 to 1970.
He was a banker, stockbroker and real estate developer in Denver from 1957 to 1964.
Mr. Watson served in the Army from 1953 to 1955.
He graduated in 1951 from North High School in Denver, where he was an all-state swimmer. He attended the University of Colorado from 1951 to 1953. He earned a bachelor's degree in history in 1957 from Colorado State College, now the University of Northern Colorado. He earned his master's degree from Colorado State College in 1965.
Mr. Watson was a member of Phi Alpha Theta, a national history honor society, while he attended Colorado State College. He was a board member of the Cheyenne Mountain Heritage Center, a member of the Cheyenne Education Association, the Colorado Education Association and the National Education Association.
