MORTUARY RECORD.
Richard Hill.
Richard Hill, a pioneer of Porter county, died Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at his home five and one-half miles northeast of Valparaiso. Death resulted from an aggravated attack of Bright's disease. Mr. Hill was a well known farmer and announcement of his death will come as a distinct shock to a host of friends. He leaves a family. the deceased was born in Onendago county, New York, August 1, 1829, where he grew to young manhood and was married to Miss Lydia Ann Taylor, who survives him, in 1853. Fifty-one years ago Mr. and Mrs. Hill came to Porter county, their first few days here being spent in Chesterton at that time Calumet. Shortly after his arrival here Mr. Hill located in Jackson township where he continued to reside the remainder of his life until the past few months when he took up his residence with his son, Frank B. Hill, where he passed away. Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hill, six of whom survive their father, they being as follows: Mrs. Myron Smith, Chesterton; Mrs. M. C. Link, Westville; Monroe Hill, Westville; Schuyler Hill, Velva, N. D.; Edward Hill and Frank B. Hill, Washington township. The deceased is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Nancy Springer, of Valparaiso.
The funeral was held from the Jackson Center church last Tuesday at 10 o'clock. The services were conducted by Rev. Davis, of Valparaiso, and were attended by a large number of sorrowing friends and relatives of the deceased. Burial took place in Carter cemetery.
