Salvatore C. Battisti, 100, of Pittston, died Saturday at home.

Born in San Cataldo, Sicily, April 7, 1903, he was a son of the late Paul Joseph and Josephine (Caruso) Battisti. He graduated from Pittston High School and the Wharton School of Business.

He worked as a banker, serving as past president of the Miners Saving Bank and was senior vice president of First Eastern Bank.

He served as the president of the Wyoming Valley Chapter of the American Institute of Banking, and was president of the Northern Anthracite Bankers Association, which was comprised of 11 counties of Pennsylvania.

He was a member of St. Rocco's Church, Pittston, where he was a life member of its Holy Name Society.

He was past president of the Pittston Rotary Club; was Razzers Club president, a member of the American Banking Association and the Pennsylvania Bankers Association, Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce, Fox Hill Country Club; the San Cataldo Society, Pittston; the Red Cross; the Pittston YMCA; and the Community Chest, Pittston.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mamie Rosati; daughter, Justine J. Haddow; sisters, Theresa Emma, Michelina Palmeri, Marietta Cefalo, Carmella Vullo, Elvira Marzola and Antoinette Cefalo.

Surviving are his daughter, Josephine, Broomall; son, Paul, Hughestown; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;~ and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 700 Township Blvd., Pittston Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Rocco's Church, with the Rev. Joseph Sibilano officiating.

Entombment will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park, Laflin.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
