George "Alex" Meeks, age 72, died Wednesday, April 29, 2014 at his home in Rocky Point, NC.

He was born June 18, 1941 in Pender County and was the son of the late George Washington and Lanie Dell Chadwick Meeks.

Alex is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Linda Faye Meeks; sons, Todd Meeks and Jeff Meeks; daughter, Gina Meeks; grandchildren, Jeff Meek, Jr., Trevor Meeks and Shelton Meeks; sisters, Linda Patterson, Carolyn Manship (Stan) and Patsy Caton; several nieces and nephews; and many extended family and friends.

Alex, with his outgoing personality was loved by so many. His most favorite pastime was spending time in his beloved woods communing with all of God's nature and creations. He not only enjoyed hunting, but loved cooking for the hunters and swapping stories with them. Alex possessed a keen intellect, sharp wit and an engaging personality. Amongst the legacies Alex leaves are the importance of God, Family and Friends.

Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at King's Chapel Church with the Reverend Nathan Morton officiating.
