His death in 1918 is somewhat mysterious, sources say that he fell victim to the flu during the Spanish Flu Pandemic of 1918 (which is possible), other sources indicate that he died after a "nervous breakdown." While his WWI Registration card which was dated Sep 12th 1918 (two weeks before dying) he gave his home and employer's address as "State Hospital, Norwalk, California" and in asking about disqualifications on the back of the card, it reads "insane." True Broadman's death could have been the combination of both. But we will never know for certain.
