George LeFevre has made as good on Auditor as Highland County has ever had. Since he has taken charge of the office
hundreds of errors on the duplicates have been corrected. He is painstaking and courteous, and is running the office
strictly on business principles. He deserves a re-election.

Death of Geo. W. LeFevre
Geo. W. LeFevre died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James H. Reece, on Friday morning, October 7th, 1898.
For many years prior to his death he had been very frail physically. His serious illness, however, commenced on the 3rd day of March last, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Katherine Dyer, in Columbus, Ohio, where he was attacked with severe heart trouble. After this he gradually failed, and while visiting his daughter, Mrs. Reece, he was confined to his bed for the five weeks immediately preceding his death. During this time he could partake of no solid food and of but little nourishment of any kind and he suffered intense pain, not only from the disease, but from extreme weakness, and the longing for food which it was impossible for him to take.
Knowing the end from the beginning, he bore his afflictions with patience and Christian fortitude, and calmly awaited the hour of dissolution.
Mr. LeFevre was born at Hagerstown, Maryland, April 3rd, 1835. He was the eldest of a family of six children. He entered college at Chambersburg, Pa., at the age of seventeen, but was prevented from completing a full course by the death of his father.
He came to this county in September, 1864, and settled at Greenfield, where he at once identified himself with its business interests.
He was for some time cashier of the Citizen's Bank of Greenfield, and in the year 1883, while in that position, was elected county auditor, and was re-elected in 1886, serving two full terms.
His education, his executive ability, and his general business qualifications particularly fitted him for his official duties and his administration was very successful.
His connection with the office for so long a time gave him a thorough acquaintance with the citizens of the entire county, who will hear of his death with pain and sincere regret.
After he finished his term as auditor, he retired to his farm near New Petersburg, where he has since resided, with the exception of a short time at Columbus, his condition of health not permitting him to engage in active business.
Mr. LeFevre was married November 9th, 1858, to Elizabeth Lushbaugh, who still survives him. He also leaves five children, Dr. H. W. LeFevre of Cincinnati; Mack of Greenfield, Miss Huldah, who resides in Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Dyer of Columbus, Ohio; and Mrs. James H. Reece of this city.
The funeral took place on Monday morning from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. James H. Reece, and was in charge of the I.O.O.F., with which organization he had long been connected.
He was an active member of the Presbyterian church having united with that denomination at Greenfield, 1870.
The religious services in connection with the funeral were conducted by Rev. Dr. McSurely of the First Presbyterian Church of this place.
Immediately after the funeral services the remains were conveyed to Greenfield, accompanied by relatives and friends and the interment was had in the beautiful cemetery at that village.
