Largely attended funeral services for Frank Munson who passed away November 14, were held Friday from the home in Church street. Rev. Barnard, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was made in the family plot in Mexico village cemetery. Mr. Munson was a member of one of the oldest families in the United States. The Munson family settled in New Hartford, Conn., early in the 17th century. One of his ancestors was instrumental in the group of men who founded Yale University at New Haven, Conn. The majority of the family descendants are now living in Greene and Orange counties in the Catskills. Mr. Munson came to Mexico early in manhood and had engaged principally in farming. At one time he operated a retail grain store where the post office is now located. He was born in Ashland, Green county, August 4, 1858, the son of Leverett and Hester Foote Munson. On May 19, 1886 he was united in marriage with JMiss Hattie Howard. Surviving besides his wife, are two daughters, Miss Edith Munson of Philadelphia, Penna., and Miss Amelia Munson of New York City; three brothers Charles of Davenport, Edward of Syracuse,and John Munson of Rochester.
