Prior to 1930 he married Lilley Catharyn Horn She was born in Kansas in 1904. Between 1930 and 1933 he moved his family to Glendale, CA where he worked in construction as a plasterer. The 1940 census lists two sons, Enos (1930) and Wendell (1933). According to his WWII draft card his employer in 1942 was L.B. Paulson in Los Angeles.
Mr. Akard died on July 29, 1967 in Los Angeles County, CA.
