Richard James Rude died in Germany of a sudden brain aneurysm. He went to the infirmary complaining of a headache, slipped into a coma and died hours later. Hoping to find him alive, his father, John Rude and brother, Ben Dale Rude flew to Germany but he had expired before they got there. They escorted him home.
An accomplished horseman, he took great pride in his bay thoroughbred horse, Scotty. Richard also had a great deal of knowledge of the American Indian. As a young man in his teens he would frequent Indian Pow-Wows in Burbank California. He is missed.
