Mr. Espenschied began his wagon business in 1848. It was incorporated as the Espenschied Wagon Company in 1887 and he remained the head of the company. The company consolidated its business with that of Mr. Leudinghaus in 1890 and became known as the Leudinghaus-Espenschied Wagon Company. The company manufactured farm, log and other wagons, with a special emphasis on heavy wagons.
